Many people often ask how long or how often they should use binaural beats. The answer to this question really depends on you, what you are attempting to do, and how experienced you are. Some people may benefit the most by listening to them for only 10 minutes a day, while others can benefit the most by listening to these audios for 60 minutes a day. The only person that can truly figure out the answer to this question is you.
Setting and knowing your intention first is critical to having the most success with these recordings. This gives you a purpose and a vision to work towards. Are you wanting to increase the length and depth of your meditation sessions? Are you wanting to get a better night sleep? Lucid dream? Become more focused? These are all factors that will determine not only when, but how often you should use binaural beats.
Don’t become rushed. Don’t force the results to happen, just go with the flow and understand that these audios are tools help guide you. They make it easier to accomplish what you want. Have patience.
If you are just starting out experimenting with these audios then I believe that 15 minutes a days is all you should use them. Many beginners have the problem of seeing how positive the results are and then completely overusing them, eventually leading them to get burnt out on brainwave entrainment. 15 minutes is just long enough for a beginner to experience the effects, yet want to keep coming back each day for more.
I would recommend, regardless of what you’re trying to accomplish, that you don’t spend more than an hour a day listening to binaural beats. Any time spent longer than this and the results will begin to greatly diminish. It’s even more affective if you split this time up. Say, you listen to them in the morning to wake up, then listening to them for thirty minutes will be much more effective than using them for an hour straight. Then before you go to sleep, you can throw on your headphones and spend another half hour listening to them.
Spending too much time in altered states of consciousness can begin to disconnect us from reality. Everything in life needs balance. If you are searching to get closer to the divine and on a spiritual journey then it’s fine to spend as much time as you need to, but for the average person with work and responsibilities, an hour should be the most each day. Balance is key.
Is what is hard is for people who enjoy meditating for more than an hour a day – like the Yogis who spend at least 4 hours a day meditating – and need binaural beats to reach really deep states of consciousness. If you are in this situation then you should slowly practice reaching these deeps states without the use of these tools. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that these are only tools and if we truly want to personally and spiritually grow then we need to use these tools to guide us but not become dependent on them. We should practice enough where we don’t even need to use brainwave entrainment any more.
It may seem counter-intuitive, but If you have been using binaural beats for a while then I would actually recommend you use them as little as possible. A tool can guide for so long, but if we become dependent on it, it will slowly begin to hold us back. Attempt to accomplish everything you want without the use of brainwave entrainment. Your mind is already used to entering those lower brainwave states, so it’s much easier to access them on demand than for the average person.
So as you can see how often you should use binaural beats can greatly vary. All in all it’s your own opinion and whatever you believe is helping you the most. If you feel that listening to them for 3 hours a day is very beneficial to you, then by all means use them 3 hours a day. If you notice that the effects start to diminish after 10 minutes, then only listen to them for 10 minutes at a time. Whatever you do though, as with anything in life, be passionate.
