Setting aside a designated space for listening to binaural beats is more important then most people realize. Your environment and surroundings dramatically affects your emotions, mood, vibrations, and consciousness. Setting up a peaceful and relaxing space will help your brain entrain more quickly, give you more motivation to keep a continuous routine, and enhance your overall experience. This space can be used for relaxing, yoga, exercising, prayer, a haven to get away, and meditating to just about any type of binaural beat recording.
Choosing A Space
The space you choose should be quiet and free of distractions. The best place is to dedicate an entire room strictly for meditating. Although this may seem a little extravagant to many, once meditation becomes a major part of your life, this room will definitely become your favorite place in the house. Of course most of us don’t have the luxury of using an entire spare bedroom just for meditating with binaural beats and so we must get creative.
It can be nothing more than a small area of your bedroom such as the foot or side of your bed, the corner of a room that is not used very often, garage or den as long as you have some form of climate control to keep comfortable, office, or any small area in your house that you can think of. Whatever space you decide on, if it’s possible, make sure it’s not a high traffic area such as the living room, kitchen, or laundry room.
Try to keep this space organized, easy to maintain, free of clutter and things that will distract you. The color of the room should be light and easy on the eyes and it’s best to have a window nearby to allow sunlight in. Some like to have the room completely dark but most prefer some light to come in. A window also allows fresh air to enter the room. Find out what works best for you and adjust your space to meet your needs.
What to Put In Your Meditation Space
What you put inside it should be based on your own personal preference and what binaural beats you will mainly be listening to. The first thing you will need is a mat, pillow, or chair to sit on while listening to binaural beats. If space permits, then it’s best to have a comfortable reclining chair. This puts the least amount of strain on the body while still keeping your back straight, yet it’s versatile enough to use for just about any type of recording.
Find things that inspire you to hang up and put around the area. Some things that work great are photos of loved ones, pictures of creative people that you look up to, books, beautiful paintings, meaningful symbols, and other positive energy objects. Some people like to add elements of nature such as rocks, leaves, feathers, and plants. To help set the mood further you can also add some candles, incense, or an air purifier.
Decide how you are going to listen to binaural beats while inside your meditation space. Most people now a days have some type of mp3 player or phone that they can add binaural beats to which makes it much more convenient. If you don’t then you will have to have a CD player or computer nearby. Also make sure the headphones you are using are good quality and comfortable.
Whatever you decide to add to your meditation space make sure to keep it minimal and simple. Adding too much can actually do more harm than good. The more that you use this space the more your subconscious will get in the habit of quieting the mind, keeping the body still, and letting the binaural beats take over putting your brainwaves in the desired frequencies with the least amount of resistance.
